New Post: Every user have its own products.

Hi,

I want to know that is it possible that every user have its own products shown on admin side? Means they can't see other user's products and there will be a super admin who can see all users and there products?

Like at the moment user admin can see all user's and products. But i want system user's can't see each other products. Only there own ones.

So does Commerce for Umbraco requires full trust or not? Why should I "expect to require full trust"? I have sites that do specialized transactions involving credit cards and they do not require full trust. What do these package do that requires full trust?

GoDaddy provides more than good price: they also provide excellent service (in my experience). I have hosted sites there for 5 years and appreciate being able to speak with someone on the phone to resolve problems. I think this far superior to exchanging emails.

Can you recommend a hosting company?

You should expect to require full trust...but its not hard to find shared hosts that offer full trust support for near the same cost as a GoDaddy plan.

Hi,

I am a small developer who would like to offer an eCommerce extension to my CMS customers. uCommerce is a non-starter for me, because it requires a Full Trust environment. I have been hosting on GoDaddy.com in a medium trust environment. The jump in cost and management responsibility required for a dedicated server and Full Trust is unacceptable for my situation.

Do this solution require Full Trust? Or, can it run in a medium trust, shared hosting configuration?

That's been in the plans, but I just haven't got around to it.

Have you done the conversion before on CodePlex? Is it painful?

No big deal but I reckon it would be cool if you changed the project source control server to use mercurial instead.

I am happy to do that if you need help. It may affect the participation from the community (at least for anal retentive dev's like me).

Got it, restored it and playing with it!! No problems restoring the DB like some seem to have. Running full SQL 2008 though (not express). I'll post some updates when I've got to grips with it.

FYI, I have a Commerce 4 Umbraco "Starter Kit" site posted here:

I think that may help you get up and running on a version that is more stable. If you would like to help out, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the project and if its worth moving forward on.

Out of curiosity I'd like to ask whether the appeal of an open source e-commerce extension for Umbraco lies in the "free" aspect, in the "open source" aspect, or somewhere else entirely.

Hi Ian,

I don't think it's possible to create an installer package (without putting a lot of work into it).

Try instead to copy the installer folder to an umbraco installation and run the wizard: \CommerceForUmbraco.installer\reference\install.aspx

I am pretty new to Umbraco, do though have a fair amount of experience of creating .NET applications. I am looking to make modifications to the code base so that this might be used to build an online shop in the UK, from what I have seen so far it appears to be very US-centric.

I am happy to make and test fixes and changes, but, for the life of me, I cannot see how to compile these changes as a package to install? Is it a case of building the code files, then placing them in the correct locations in the Umbraco folder structure and then compiling the package through the wizard, and picking the items you require to be included in the package individually?

I know there's been some movement on this project in the last couple of months but only because I've read through threads here and on the Umbraco site. Any chance you can update the project home page and let us know what the plans are as to the casual observer this project looks dead. You might get more volunteers too as there are lots of people who have used Dash and others (like me) who use its predecessor the CSK.

Great stuff Jesper. I haven't looked through the code here thoroughly as yet, as I thought it might have faded away, but if you have made significant changes I would love to see them. I will get stuck in to the latest revision and see what it's all about. A free commerce solution for Umbraco would be amazing and I would be happy to help with the development of the package

Yes I am interested to get it running. I am currently using the v2-branch in a sharp project (with latest Umbraco) and hope to get some time to contribute back som code.

Hi,

Is anything currently happening with this project? I think that an open source commerce solution would be a fantastic offering for Umbraco, and would only add weight to the already excellent product that is Umbraco.

We've been using Umbraco as our preferred CMS for almost a year now, having shelved our proprietary system in favour of a product with an excellent track record, flexible implementation (we have pushed it to its limits and it's coped, very well!) and great performance. There's just one thing missing from our "old" CMS... a free, open source, plug-and-play commerce "package". Having written most of our original system (with more than a little help from my friends) I understand the challenges involved, but surely it's nothing that a bunch of like-minded enthusiastic and experienced developers can't overcome?

I've been keeping an eye on the commercial offerings for "eCommerce for Umbraco" of late (uCommerce, uWebShop (aka SSWS) and TeaCommerce) and without meaning to cause any offence to these developer teams, does nobody have the appetite for an open source implementation? After all, that's what makes Umbraco such an amazing product.

If there is a desire for this amongst the superb Umbraco community, maybe we should get our virtual heads together and see what we can do to get this up and running again?

I have been sending emails with version 2.0 today and it works well from both the admin section (great job with the test lab Jason!) and from the front web site functions.

The templates in the db for merchant and customer is how ever not complete. Perhaps it's because I got a slightly older database than the latest scripts. I am missing #stubs for OrdetItems and other stuff.

I could not find the MailerTemplates in txt anywhere but I have not looked so properly. If there is any change of committing either db och textformats of examples it would be lovely. Or else it does not seem so hard composing them myself. The html around the content is there in my db so I get the welcome phrase and stuff.
