Display cart item count and total cost

This has been driving me nuts.

I have used the may 22, 2009 v1.0 Beta release of c4u to make a small demo site. Now I would like to display the number of items in the cart and the total cost of all items, as used on this site: http://www.joecalzaghe.com. As far as I can tell there is no ready-to-use control like that in this release, but it should be easy enough to do it myself. However I think my solution is needlessly complicated, ugly and it stinks.

So I want something like

     shopping cart (2 items/€ 18.98)

displayed on the top of my page. What's the best way to go about that?

Thanks.

Have a look at he MiniCart control.  The idea is that rather than displaying the full item, you'll just use the count and total of items.  That's the basic approach we've using in implemementation previously.

Thanks again. That's kind of what I ended up doing, making a new minicart control, based on the original but deleted everything I didn't need. Once I figured out the source code was available right here on this site... :)
